Dawid Daniel van Deventer was born on the 22 nd
September 1956 . As a child he was fascinated by the
world around him and started drawing and painting at an
early age.
In the early 1960’s his parents moved to Pretoria where
he eventually studied fine arts under Professor Nico Roos
at the University of Pretoria, followed by a teachers
diploma.
After  completing his National Service he started a
career as an art teacher, initially at Krugersdorp High
School and later at Pelmama College in Dobsonville.
In 1992 he left teaching and started concentrating more
on his own art. He developed a special interest in
portraiture and also loves to copy paintings from the
great masters.
Over the years he sold paintings in America and China
and also locally.. Today he is still happy to accept
commissions and keeps himself busy with various other
tasks.
